Every now and then, some great things happen at Howard University.
On MLK Day (You should know that it’s Jan 19), the campus will host “Refresh the World.”
It’s a symposium on education, economy, gender, hip hop and Black America.
Appearing will be fashion mogul Sean Combs, Cover Girl Queen Latifah, Spike Lee, Rev. Al Sharpton and Dr. Cornel West.
Tickets are free but limited–if you go to school in the area and only on a first-come-first-served basis at the Howard University box office.
Diddy and CIROC will distribute thousands of debit cards, valued up to $15, in high-traffic New York City locations.
The lucky recipients will be able to use the cards in taxicabs on New Year’s Eve, so that no matter how drunk they are, they can get home safely.
In partnership with the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) and E! Entertainment, CIROC and E! Entertainment are further supporting the initiative with a message from Combs currently running on taxicab televisions in New York City through January 1, 2009.
You’ve probably heard of Sean John’s new fragrance, I Am King.
I won’t even bother to comment on the name.
However, Diddy’s camp is celebrating the scent’s new website, “where the male power players of the world can live — and smell — like a king.”
If you are a guy who happens to be reading this post, you might be interested in Combs’ interactive challenge to his fans.
Do you have what it takes to be a king?
On the site, Diddy posts a link, asking fans to upload their videos onto YouTube, explaining why they, themselves, are modern day kings. Diddy will select the top three submissions.
- business class airfare
- deluxe hotel accommodations and local transportation
- a $500 shopping spree at the Sean John flagship store
- dinner and an evening out at a NYC nightclub
The three winners will also tour the offices of Bad Boy Entertainment and receive one limited edition I Am King Lucite box.
There’s a bid to “Diddy” New Year’s Eve in New York.
Thanks to the fashion mogul’s partnership with CÎROC Ultra Premium Vodka.
Diddy and the liquor company have made an unprecedented offer to the City of New York.
They plan to donate $1 million to a charity on behalf of the city in exchange for a New Year’s Eve ball takeover.
The vodka brand wants to change the historic crystal ball to reflect its iconic blue sphere.
According to them, “The color of the sphere originates from a unique plant that grows in the Gaillac region of France , where CÎROC is still produced, and serves as a symbol of prosperity for the area even today.”
Some people say change is a wonderful thing but I’m not so sure about this one.
Let’s see if Diddy’s actually gonna get away with this one.
At this very momet, Alvin Ailey’s dance teams must be feeling pretty smart.
They probably look it, too.
As part of the 10th anniversary for Sean John and the 50th anniversary of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Sean John dressed the entire men’s dance team.
The guys will wear Sean John Fine Tailored suits, dress shirts and ties, and limited edition Ailey Movado Museum Dial Timepieces.
Ailey’s female stars will wear gowns provided by acclaimed fashion designers Badgley Mischka.
Proceeds from the gala will help to ensure the continued growth and vitality of all of Ailey’s important programs — from the creation of inspiring new works to scholarships for talented young dancers to innovative outreach programs.
In light of recent events concerning Danity Kane, I decided to do a bit of research.
After seemingly being split up by Diddy during the penultimate episode of Making the Band, you can’t help but wonder.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR DANITY KANE?!
The Bad Boy Entertainment camp may be pretty silent on the matter.
But I’ve drawn the conclusion that Danity Kane isn’t dead — well at least their clothing line isn’t.
Their Dollhouse collection is still available online.
Even though it’s just three pairs of jeans in inventory.
See for yourself.
The legendary Fontainebleau Miami Beach is rolling out its red carpet for tonight’s highly anticipated unveiling of its $1 billion dollar facelift.
A roster of VIPs will pick up where suave Hollywood legends left off.
Tonight, singer and song writer Robin Thicke will entertain a star-studded audience including Sean “DIDDY” Combs, A-Rod, Terrence Howard, Chloe Sevigny and Venus and Serena Williams.
The momentous occasion continues tomorrow night with the taping of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show featuring musical guest Usher.
Attendees will dine on dishes inspired by the property’s new signature restaurants, ScarpettaTM and Gotham Steak®, before heading over to the seven-story set erected around Fontainebleau’s pool-scape.
That’s the good life!
Appearing in several of Macy’s celebrity-filled advertising campaigns, Jessica Simpson will celebrate Macy’s 150th birthday at its New York City birthday bash on October 28, 2008.
Macy’s birthday is tomorrow.
And to celebrate, the mega store chain will rename 34th Street in New York City to R.H. Macy Way in honor of the brand’s founder.
It’s the location of its Herald Square flagship and world’s largest store.
That same evening, Macy’s will host a fashion industry gala at Gotham Hall – just a block from its flagship store – with a guest list featuring
- Jessica Simpson
- Sean “Diddy” Combs
- Eva Mendes
- Martha Stewart
- Tommy Hilfiger
- Kenneth Cole
The event will culminate with the reveal of a special birthday cake designed by Duff from Ace of Cakes followed by a fireworks finale off the roof of the retailer’s famous NYC landmark store.
Also, in honor of the milestone, the Empire State Building (Macy’s neighbor on 34th Street) will be lit red.
The ceremonial unveiling of the street sign will take place the morning of October 28. The temporary signs will be on view until November 15th.
Happy Birthday, Macy’s!

Diddy has done it again!
Today, he bought fashion label ENYCE from Liz Claiborne.
In case you can’t remember, Enyce is a denim based sportswear brand for men and boys and also has a women’s line.
In true no-bitchassness style, Diddy said he and Liz Claiborne will work together to ensure a smooth and orderly transition for retail partners, vendors and employees.
Add Enyce to the portfolio of brands that he already owns, including Sean John and Zac Posen.
Then go ahead and top that with his marketing of Ciroc Vodka, Unforgivable by Sean John, and all of his television titles.
There can be no argument. Diddy rules.
