Heidi Klum’s a pretty busy woman.

But the mom/wife/TV show host/model is still finding time to do other worthwhile stuff.

This time around, she’s penciling Diet Coke in her busy schedule.

For the second year in a row, the beverage makers have chosen Heidi Klum as their heart health ambassador in support of The Heart Truth campaign.

It’s a national effort sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) to educate women about the risks of heart disease.

In true Klum fashion, the campaign will include Diet Coke’s sponsorship of The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection fashion show on February 13 at Fashion Week 2009.

You’ll also see lots of ads starring the supermodel as she takes on the dual role of jewelry designer and model.

According to a statement released today, she has created a Diet Coke Red Dress Charm, inspired by the Red Dress symbol.

It’s encrusted in rubies and diamonds and “shaped like an hourglass to remind women it is time to get educated about heart disease.”

Finding a pair of jeans that fits well can be pure drama.

Too big in the waist, makes your butt look too big or too squishy, length’s too short or too long, etc, etc…

Good news is there’s a jeans brand, indi, that’s trying to solve our problems.

Imagine logging on to a web site, choosing from hundreds of possible style variations, answering a few body shape questions, and having a custom fit pair of jeans made just for you.

I haven’t tried it yet but it sure sounds interesting.

Go ahead, create your own now.

It’s that time of year when fashion retailers reveal their spring / summer collections.

ASOS revealed its menswear line for spring and summer of 2009 to UK and international media today.

Ian Bryder, Head of Menswear Design, asos.com, shed some light on the collection.

“For our Preppy trend – which we’ve christened ‘Preppy Tec’ – we’re presenting a sharp, contemporary take on the classic American Ivy League look but with a softer, more colourful palette,” he said.

Apparently, the line is heavily influenced by the Italian Paninaro scooter gangs that influenced terrace fashions of the 80’s and 90’s.

You guys are the BEST!

Thanks so much to Ayanna for sharing this article from Clutch Magazine, 10 Fashion Commandments for 2009.”

Just so you know, I’m echoing Commandment 10. LOUD n clear! 🙂

Alright ladies and gents, it’s that time again – the New Year. Oh, how it brings hope for change and infinite new possibilities to come! Now most of you have probably begun to compile your list of resolutions, from losing weight and saving more money, to getting more organized and cutting back on the cigarettes. We commend you on making that first step, and wish you the best of luck in achieving your goals. But one thing we don’t ever want you to forget about is the power of a great wardrobe. That’s right, we said it. During these times of political change, economic hardship, and uncertainty about what’s next to come, fashion will set you free. This year, starting now, resolve to be FLY!

To get you all headed on the path to becoming the most stylish Cluchettes you can be, we’ve compiled a list of do’s/don’ts related to fashion and style – “The Fashion Commandments”. I’m sure we’ve all slipped up a couple times and stepped out the house looking, well, let’s just say “not our very best”. But it’s our hope that by following these few simple tips, you’ll be just a step closer to becoming the most classy, budget-savvy, unique, and confident fashionistas out there! Are you up for the challenge?

Now while we’ve already got a list of ten started, it definitely doesn’t stop here. Why is that, you ask? Well, because we still want to hear your input of course! Leave a comment, letting us know what rules/tips you think should be added to the list. Maybe we’ll end up with fifteen commandments, instead. Perhaps even twenty, if you’ve witnessed half the fashion sins we’ve seen this past year… Go ahead, and send them all in. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Commandment #1 Thou shalt not wear leggings as pants, baring your backsides for the whole world to see! Instead, pair leggings with casual dresses, or tunic-length shirts and sweaters. Enjoy the trend, but tastefully and in moderation.

Commandment #2 Thou shalt not show panty line, thongs, bra straps, or any other undergarments for that matter. Be a lady, and keep such personal information to yourself.

Commandment #3 Thou shalt not buy clothing that is too small, under the pretense of losing weight to fit into it. Money spent today should be able to be used today. Besides, it’s not about the number or size on the garment, but rather the way it fits your body and makes you feel. A comfy 14 beats a too-tight 10 any day!

Commandment #4 Thou shalt not spend beyond your fashionable means. Purchasing the hottest new “it” bag means nothing if you can’t afford to go out and be seen in it, or if it will make the rent or car note past due. A Birkin bag may be fly, but you sure can’t live in it!

Commandment #5 Thou shalt experiment fearlessly with bright colors and bold accessories. Spice up a simple black ensemble with a pair of turquoise flats, for example, or a stack of beaded bangles.

Commandment #6 Thou shalt not fall victim to the trends, allowing the magazines and designers to dictate everything you wear and every piece you buy. Be yourself and wear what makes you feel most comfortable. Embrace your individuality!

Commandment #7 Thou shalt not wear shoes and boots with leaned heels. Walking sideways is not sexy!

Commandment #8 Thou shalt not assume that we all are “Sasha Fierce.” Yes we all have fierce alter egos within us, but that doesn’t mean that we should show up at the club in a leotard or one piece with some pumps on!

Commandment #9 Thou shalt understand the importance of appearance and how everything from your hair, makeup and the wrong accessories can destroy a great look. Make sure everything ties together PLEASE!

Commandment #10 Thou shalt always take one good look at themselves in the mirror from head to toe before heading out the door. Whether it’s off to work, a date with a boobie, the club, school, etc., for the next 365 days make sure it’s a look that isn’t going to garner you those side-eye stares. The goal is to be you!

As time goes by, more details about Amy Winehouse’s reported stint as a fashion designer at coming to the fore.

Vogue.com has hinted that the singer might be teaming up with British label Fred Perry.

SHE has stepped out of the line of paparazzi fire recently but after the annus horribilis that was 2008, word has it that Amy Winehouse is preparing to make a spectacular public comeback – as a fashion designer.

According to the tabloids, the Rehab singer let slip during a festive holiday that she is currently in negotiations with iconic British label Fred Perry and has already started sketching out a few of her ideas.

“She was almost childishly excited and couldn’t stop talking about it,” a source told The Sun.

She may have spent 2008 beset by personal problems but for some, a Winehouse foray into fashion could seem overdue; not only did her distinctive look dictate the styling of Karl Lagerfeld‘s Paris-LondresMetiers d’Art collection for Chanel in 2007 but Roberto Cavalli has previously declared her “a fashion icon because she is unique”, and London-based footwear designer Jonathan Kelsey created a stiletto, the Amy, in her honour – which she was promptly photographed wearing.

mimosa

While I’m still in love with my LBDs,  I’m dying to be fashionably radiant this year.

That’s why I was happy to learn that Mimosa, a warm, engaging yellow,  has been named the color of the year for 2009.

According to the experts at Pantone Color, mimosa is a versatile shade that coordinates with any other color, has appeal for men and women, and translates to both fashion and interiors.

So look out for women’s accessories, active sportswear and men’s ties and shirts in this vibrant hue.

What You Should Know About Yellow

The color yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance. Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation.

Unsure of which season to wear fabrics like silk, taffeta, organza, crepe de chine, tulle, satin or velvet?

The time is now.

Put the jeans aside and dress up.

Pull out that stunning black velvet jacket, cocktail dress or dressy slacks instead.

Black and dark hues are worn in abundance: mix it with head-to-toe winter white, or mix in taupes, grays and browns.

Wear jewelry that sparkles and shines — cocktail rings, costume jewelry, big earrings and pins.
