Being from Barbados, I’m always eager to celebrate Rihanna’s fashion sense.

But after seeing pics posted on the City Rag blog today, I am slightly (ok, very) disappointed.

After making PEOPLE’s Best Dressed List, Rihanna is picking up more fashion cred.

Essence magazine has given the Bajan singer a  new label – “Style Icon.”

Yesterday, the Barbadian artist posed with Welsh singer Duffy while shopping in Barneys.

Fashion Rocks celebrates its fifth anniversary this year with an unprecedented line-up of performers.

The star-studded cast includes Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Duffy, Justin Timberlake, Keith Urban, Kid Rock, Mariah Carey and Rihanna among others.

Fashion Rocks uniquely celebrates the intersection of two of the most sexy cultural paradigms; fashion and music. 

It comes off at Radio City Music Hall on September 5, 2008.

The concert will air the following Tuesday night, September 9, 2008 in a two-hour special on the CBS television network (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

Proceeds from the event will benefit Stand Up To Cancer.

The Fashion Rocks magazine will also return this year bigger and better then ever.

Slated to reach over 60 million readers and filled with even more editorial content, Fashion Rocks magazine will accompany the September issue of 16 Conde Nast titles.

Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour and Contributing Editor Jonathan Van Meter will again take the helm as editor-in-chief and editorial director, respectively.
