It’s that time of year again.

We’ll struggle to find the perfect gift for the ones we love.

Celebrity Stylist Mark-Alan Harmon and Prime Outlets have some pretty helpful tips.

Gift-Giving Don’ts

  1. Don’t force your own personal style or look onto someone else.
  2. Don’t buy anything for family and friends that is extremely low-cut or considered sexy. (I don’t totally agree.)
  3. Never buy shoes for anyone unless you know their exact shoe size and preferred designer.
  4. Never give pre-packaged fragrance sets that are poorly wrapped. They come across as impersonal and last minute.
  5. Avoid inexpensive packaging; the outside of the present should match the essence of what’s inside.

Bloomingdale’s is pulling out all the stops for holiday 2008.

This store is churning out surprising partnerships and high-end fashion for the season.

  • Gwen Stefani talks about her glamorous life in the Little Brown Book published by Bloomingdale’s. She also designed the cover of this issue.
  • Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala, creators of the William Rast fashion line, contribute a style scrapbook featuring their holiday secrets.
  • Six amazing experiences will be up for auction in Bloomingdale’s holiday catalog – from a cruise with John Mayer to a painting lesson with Tony Bennett. All six include airfare and a perfectly appointed suite at one of the Leading Hotels of the World. Experiences with Yo-Yo Ma, Celine Dion, iCarly’s Miranda Cosgrove and Lang Lang round out the six once-in-a-lifetime events.

This Christmas, Macy’s is trying to capture your heart (and hoping you’ll spend your money with them!).

For the holidays, you’ll see “Believe Stations” in their stores.

And don’t be surprised if you see the department store’s stars” on your TV this Christmas reaching out to you with lines from “Yes, Virginia,” a classic holiday editorial.

  • Jessica Simpson
  • Martha Stewart
  • Carlos Santana
  • Donald Trump
  • Tommy Hilfiger
  • Kenneth Cole

The store has also launched a really cool Believe web site

Thanks to Macy’s, for the holidays you can download a letter kit complete with official Santa letterhead, and design your own “Claus” with the “Be Claus” application.

“Be Claus” personalization allows customers to upload a photo and design themselves as Santa Claus.

The Believe campaign benefits the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and will also be run en español.
