The newest partnership in the footwear industry has been announced.

And I can’t help but wonder how the shoes are gonna look.

New Balance and Nine West are teaming up to develop an active lifestyle fashion footwear line.

It’s scheduled to hit stores in America and abroad in 2009.

According to a statement released today, the collection will be designed in partnership with Fred Allard, Nine West Creative Director, and Savania Davies-Keiller and Roberto Crivello, New Balance Creative Directors.

New Balance will be responsible for the innovative material direction and insole technology while Nine West will be responsible for soft-tech styling and trend-right color.

The folks in the Nine West camp say there’ll be lots of buzz about the new footwear line with events, ads, and a whole slew of other promotional activities on the cards.

Stay tuned!

MTV “Run’s House” star Angela Simmons, has cooked up a new song called “Center of Attention” to herald the arrival of Pastry’s newest offering, Glam Pie.

With her sister and business partner, Vanessa Simmons, Angela is representing their newest sneaker, which their camp is calling “a high-topped confection for young ladies’ feet.”

Angela has mixed music and fashion with the recording of “Center of Attention,” which she co-wrote.

The track was produced by Cali producers TrakMatik and Felix Badatua, and will be available as a free download at http://www.pastrykicks.com, beginning July 17th.

“Center of Attention” will also have a music video.

Can’t wait to see what that’s gonna look like!

SKECHERS USA, Inc. has signed 2008 American Idol winner David Cook to a global endorsement agreement.

This deal marks the first male celebrity to make SKECHERS’ roster since 2002 (actor Robert Downey Jr. was the first male face of the global brand).

With exclusive worldwide rights to advertise footwear using Cooks image through December 2009, SKECHERS will feature the 25-year-old singer in various SKECHERS styles through a campaign they say will reflect his personality, interests and appeal.

The campaign launches Fall 08 to coincide with the PopTarts American Idols Live! Tour 2008, and the debut of Davids first post-Idol album on 19 Recordings/RCA Records.

The SKECHERS Cook campaign will include print, outdoor and in-store ads.

Let’s hope this goes well for David.

Collective Brands Inc., which operates the Payless ShoeSource and Stride-Rite shoe store chains, is paying footwear rival K-Swiss $30 million in a trademark infringement lawsuit.

The cheaper shoe company said it was not admitting any wrongdoing but that it promises to “refrain from making, advertising, promoting or selling footwear confusingly similar to that sold by K-Swiss.”

According to Associated Press reports, Payless has got until the end of the year to get rid of all remaining K-Swiss-like inventory.
