You know DrJays.

It’s that store that sells mostly street and urban fashion.

And instead of hiring professional models to showcase their new offering for spring, they’re giving regular people the opportunity to appear on their web site.

Through its national model search, Fresh Faces of Spring 2009, the store will give aspiring models a chance to enter from today to Monday, February 23.

All you need to do is upload a 30-second audition video to DrJays.com.

The site’s community will rate your video.

Two winners – one male, one female – will be chosen for their “broad appeal, spirit and passion” to be the face of DrJays.com’s Spring 2009 campaign.

Winners get to

  • fly to the store’s creative studio in San Diego
  • be put up in a downtown hotel for two nights
  • star in a photo shoot featuring the leading brands in urban wear

Crooner Chris Brown is launching his own cap collection today.

The new “CBE” 59FIFTY cap series was created by Chris from his own designs and drawings.

Currently available at Lids stores and all New Era flagship stores, the collection comprises 6 caps.

They’ll include 80’s inspired symbols like a boom-box and a “nerd” character, which Chris came up with himself, as well as a cap inspired by his very own insignia: “CBE.”

Billboard is reporting that Nas and Soulja Boy are on the up in the endorsement department after inking fashion deals.

Nas & Fila

According to Billboard.biz, the rapper has signed a one-year deal with Fila, the athletic apparel company which was hugely popular in the 80’s and 90’s.

According to Billboard, Fila will help fund Nas’ print and tv advertising efforts and his album promotion tour, while the MC will, in turn, wear Fila’s products and help create an 80’s-inspired fashion line.

Soulja Boy & Yums Shoes

Soulja Boy has inked a multi-year contract with Yums Shoes.

The teenage rapper’s shoe will be released along with his album.

According to the Interscope-signed chart topper, a Soulja Boy cartoon is also in the works.

Seems there’s no end in sight for celebrity fashion lines.

Now, Billboard is reporting that Rapper LL Cool J has teamed up with Sears department stores to produce a new clothing line.

The collection, which hits retail outlets in September, will be carried across 450 Sears stores, and will include apparel for juniors, kids and young men.

By partnering with the rapper, Sears hopes to expand its reach with multi-cultural shoppers, particularly African Americans. It also plans on expanding the collection to more of the retailer’s 2,400 locations by the end of the year.

According to International Business Times, the hip-hop clothing label, called LL Cool J for Sears, will include girls and boys, juniors and young men’s wear and has plans to also offer accessories. Prices range from $22 for a T-shirt to $50 for jeans.
